Vicks is an American brand of over-the-counter medicine that is owned by Procter & Gamble and Helen of Troy Limited, both of which are American companies. Vicks makes both NyQuil and DayQuil, a similar medicine. Vicks also makes cough medicines like Formula 44, cough drops, Vicks VapoRub, and a number of inhaled treatments for breathing problems. Vicks products were made for a long time by Richardson-Vicks, Inc., a family-owned business in Greensboro, North Carolina. In the end, Procter & Gamble bought Richardson-Vicks, Inc. in 1985. In 2015, Procter & Gamble got out of the liquid inhalant business for Vicks VapoSteam in the U.S. and sold it to Helen of Troy.
